About Emily & Apex Tax Law

I grew up on a ranch in Meeker, Colorado, where my first nickname was “Owl.” It fit perfectly because, instead of walking, I preferred to observe and analyze everything around me. I didn’t take my first steps until age two, and once I mastered the art of running, I could often be found dashing around the ranch. My childhood was filled with caring for orphaned lambs, sewing, shooting, and mastering the fine art of cake decorating through 4-H.

I landed my first job off the ranch at just eight years old, and by thirteen, I was fully committed—working full-time during the summers and part-time during the school year to cover my clothing and school expenses. My natural athleticism shined through as I dedicated myself to everything I pursued, culminating in a gold medal in gymnastics and sponsorship to compete internationally in cross-country by the age of sixteen. I diligently saved my earnings for school expenses and anything left over went towards my dream of traveling the world.

This early journey sparked my interest in international business and eventually led me to law school, where I could further my passion for helping others. After graduating high school, I took the leap to live abroad in Slovakia, immersing myself in the language and culture while staying with host families.

Upon returning to the U.S., I worked full-time and juggled my studies to earn a Bachelor of Science in International Business from the University of Nevada, Reno, graduating with distinction. I spent a summer interning in Thailand and studied Japanese for two years to expand my educational horizons.

I was thrilled to be accepted to several law schools, ultimately choosing the University of Miami School of Law, seeing it as a vibrant hub for international business. I powered through law school in an impressive two and a half years and, after successfully passing the bar exam on my first attempt, landed my first job as a tax attorney just 14 days later.

Thirteen years later, Apex Tax Law was born! Somewhere during this journey, I managed to raise two handsome little boys and create a life filled with shenanigans and fart jokes.

I’ve discovered a true passion for helping people navigate tax debt and other challenges, aiming to relieve their stress so they can focus on what really matters in life.
